What is embossed embroidery?
Embossed embroidery is a specialist technique in which thread, foam, underlying shapes and multiple stitch layers combine to create a raised relief pattern. The result has more depth than standard embroidery and gives garments a premium, tactile finish.
Our specialists assess line width, base fabric, thread choice and placement before digitising the artwork. This keeps the relief clean and recognisable after repeated wear and washing.

When should you choose embossed embroidery?
Embossed embroidery suits brands that want subtle, premium relief without relying only on bright logo colours. Tonal designs use light, shadow and stitch direction to make the structure visible. The technique works well for logos, monograms, geometric patterns and larger brand marks on stable garments.
The construction and intended appearance differ from full 3D embroidery. AJDN combines thread, foam, underlying shapes, direction and multiple stitch layers for embossed embroidery; comparable relief usually requires fewer stitches than full 3D embroidery. Flat embroidery remains the better option for very small lettering and extremely fine detail. AJDN advises which technique or combination offers the strongest result.
For a first enquiry, we prefer to receive the logo as a vector file together with the garment type, placement, size, colours and quantities. This allows us to assess stitch construction, fabric risks and production time realistically. For collections and recurring programmes, we retain these choices so future batches maintain the same appearance and quality.
Suitable garments and fabrics
Stable sweatshirts, hoodies, T-shirts, jackets and trousers, plus technically suitable separate patches, usually provide enough support. Caps and bags are not suitable for this technique; stretchy or lightweight fabrics require additional stabilisation and adjusted stitch density.
Artwork and embroidery sample
We assess minimum line widths, size, placement, colour contrast and fabric behaviour. A professional embroidery sample confirms whether depth, legibility and edge finishing match the intended appearance.
Series production and repeat orders
After approval, we retain thread colours, embroidery files and production settings for consistent repeat orders. Production can be combined with garment sourcing, neck labels, hangtags, stock management, fulfilment and international shipping.

Large lettering and clear areas
Embossed embroidery usually needs fewer stitches than full 3D embroidery for a comparable relief and suits bold, larger forms.
Garments and separate patches
For sweatshirts, hoodies, T-shirts, jackets, trousers and technically suitable patches. Not recommended for caps or bags.

Normal production takes one to five working days; webshop on-demand normally one working day when ready. Digitising starts at €10 for 1–11 items and is not charged separately from 12.
Can I order a sample first?
Yes. A paid physical sample is available from one item. For a confirmed production order from 100 items, one physical production sample is free; additional samples are quoted.
How should files be supplied and relief embroidery cared for?
Email AI, EPS or PDF to info@ajdn.com; PNG can be assessed at final size and 300 dpi. Not via WhatsApp. Wash inside out at a maximum of 30 °C and do not tumble dry.
